PAPILLION FIRE STATION #2
PAPILLION, NEBRASKA

COMPLETED:
SIZE:

2009
12,000 GSF

Having completed the Papillion Police Headquarters two years earlier, WEPA was called upon to provide architectural services for the new fire station. The project is a jointly owned building of the City and the County.

The steep sloping site was not conducive to layouts typically required for maneuvering apparatus around the building, but the location was critical to servicing the rapidly growing west side of the City. Extensive fill and earthwork were required to bring the grades to a suitable elevation to work with the access street.

The structure houses apparatus in three bays, provides office space for command staff, and provides complete living and sleeping quarters for the fire personnel. In addition a Multi-Use training room serves a variety of functions including use by the public on a scheduled basis. An integral training tower was designed but ultimately eliminated due to budget concerns and bidding climate.
