Planning for this facility started in earnest with a professional
architectural needs study by the firm. The building is home to both the Police and
Municipal Court. In order to maintain a distinct separation between the two user groups,
separate entrances and appearances are employed.
Large overhangs on the upper level shade several decks that take advantage of the coastal
climate. By designing key exterior elements to reflect detailing on the nearby historic City Hall,
a City campus was created.
The users take particular pride in the functional relationships and placement of the rooms.
Each space was carefully considered for it's ideal location. The building is technically complex
yet user friendly. Those rooms that are occupied full time have windows. Citizens are given
convenient access to select areas. Sophisticated electronics aid in providing security and
confidentiality for the police and public users in the rest of the building.
